Justice Democrats Endorses Cynthia Nixon for Governor

NEW YORK, NY — Democratic candidate for governor Cynthia Nixon was endorsed today by Justice Democrats. Justice Democrats works to change the Democratic party from the inside out and champions issues like a single-payer, Medicare For All healthcare system, tuition free public college, a $15 minimum wage, and abolishing ICE. Justice Democrats played a critical role in the original recruitment and eventual victory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s in New York’s 14th congressional district. The organization continues to recruit and support progressive candidates across the country.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Justice Democrats, an organization on the cutting edge of recruiting and supporting bold progressive candidates all across the country,” said Cynthia. “As the engine behind Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s recruitment and victory, I know that the grassroots organizers of Justice Democrats are not just waging but winning the fight for a better Democratic Party that stands with all working people, not Wall Street and big corporations. I am thrilled to work with Justice Democrats to fight for single-payer health care, abolishing cash bail, and getting big money out of politics.”

Justice Democrats endorses progressive candidates across the country who pledge not to take any corporate PAC or corporate lobbyist money. Since the beginning of her campaign, Cynthia has vowed not to take a dime of corporate money. Cynthia has also committed to a transition to 100% renewable energy, abolishing ICE, legalizing marijuana, and a whole host of progressive issues that have failed to be enacted under Gov. Cuomo.

“Justice Democrats is proud to endorse Cynthia Nixon, a lifelong New Yorker and fierce advocate for our public schools. Under Andrew Cuomo’s leadership, New York has become one of the most unequal states in the country. We can no longer accept a corrupt Governor defined by his millions of dollars in corporate money, his disinterest in fighting for essential qualities of life like single-payer healthcare, housing working people can afford, & transportation, and his refusal to provide basic rights to undocumented people. The people of New York deserve a leader who will stand up to Republicans and the IDC, and fight every day to make New York the most progressive and equal state in the US.”

The adds to a long list of progressive organizations that have backed Cynthia’s bid for governor, including Our Revolution, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Make the Road Action, New York Communities for Change, Citizen Action, the New York Progressive Action Network, and 350 Action. A group of progressive candidates vying to unseat centrist, establishment Democrats in New York have also backed Cynthia including Justice Democrats’ own Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jessica Ramos, New York State Senate candidate in the 18th district Julia Salazar.
