Cynthia receives the highest number of individual contributions of any Democratic candidate for governor in New York history 

…More than Cuomo received in all four of his bids for governor combined

NEW YORK, NY — Cynthia for New York has submitted its campaign finance report to the Board of Elections, showing nearly $2 million in contributions to date. In just five months, Cynthia’s people-powered campaign has received over 42,960 individual contributions, which sets a record for the highest number of contributions for any Democratic candidate for governor in New York history. The number of contributions also surpasses the total Gov. Cuomo has received in 16 years spanning four separate gubernatorial campaigns.

“We are seeing a level of grassroots momentum that Cuomo has failed to tap into during his entire two decade career in New York politics,” said campaign manager Hayley Prim. “There is a real hunger in New York to elect a real progressive who is beholden to the people, not corporations and millionaires.”

Nearly 98 percent of all donations to Cynthia for New York are small dollar– a notable difference from Cuomo’s 0.2% of small dollar donors. Cash on hand is $441K. The campaign finance report covers the period from July 13 to August 9.
