Cynthia Calls on Cuomo to Apologize for Trumpian Behavior to Media

NEW YORK, NY – Today, Andrew Cuomo lashed out at a reporter who asked him about donations the Governor received in an apparent straw donor scheme.According to another reporter at the scrum, “[NY1 Reporter] Zack Fink asked Cuomo a tough question about Crystal Run donations. Cuomo briefly answered the question before transitioning to talking about the ‘fraud’ committed by Charter Spectrum (Fink’s employer) against ‘the people of the state of New York.’”

This is not the first time the Governor had sought to intimidate a reporter. Earlier last week, Cuomo threatened the same reporter, referring to a “lawsuit” he had with his employer – after he asked about Cuomo’s attempt to fake small dollar support. In December, Cuomo also told a reporter that she was doing “a disservice to women” for asking about sexual harassment allegations against his top aid. In his 2014memoir, Cuomo also criticized all New York City media outlets at length.

Cynthia Nixon called on the Governor to apologize to his behavior to NY1’s Zack Fink.

“Cuomo can’t hold himself up as New York’s answer to Donald Trump, and simultaneously threaten members of the press for doing their job. The Governor owes NY1’s Zack Fink an apology. He was doing exactly what the free press is supposed to do. He was holding a powerful public official accountable for taking sketchy donations.  The Governor responded by threatening him with legal action twice in two weeks. Public officials have a responsibility to protect and honor the freedom of the press.”
